Governance of knowledge and applied research about community forestry in Honduras
concluded 03/2018
Summary The main objective of the EU/BMZ program “Adaptation of the Forest Sector of Honduras to Climate Change” (CliFor) consists in the management of community forests in Honduras to improve the conditions of the local population in social, economic and ecological aspects in relation to climate change adaptation measures. CliFor is organized in three components: (1) community management of national forests, (2) adaptation to climate change in these areas and (3) knowledge management and applied research. This project deals with the last component that supports the first two components and fosters curriculum development at national universities and research centres, the implementation of applied research projects, the improvement of natural resources policies and instruments through the organization of workshops and the systematic analysis of the lessons learned through implementation. Especially, the advice of universities in the further development of communal forest management and the adaptation to climate change is considered important including themes like management of water basin, renewable energy, integrated production systems and management of ecosystems. | Coordination: | Hermann Svantje (Tropenbos International)
